Cage gets the victory in a hard fought bout.
"The Machine" Brian Cage had an opportunity to capture the IMPACT X Division Championship last month when he challenged Matt Sydal for the title during an episode of IMPACT TV. Due to outside distractions from Jimmy Jacobs and Kongo Kong, Cage was counted out and failed in his endeavor to become champion.
Tonight at IMPACT''s 'Slammiversary XVI' PPV, Brian Cage had one more opportunity to become X Division Champion as he once again challenged the zen-champion Sydal.
In a back and forth bout that saw both men push one another to the limit, the closing sequences of the match saw Cage on the mat as Sydal was loading up for his signature "Shooting Star Press". Sydal's foot clipped the rope on the way down which opened the door for Cage to hit his finisher for a three-count to become IMPACT's new X Division Champion.
