Britt Baker was featured on the Women of AEW panel at Starrcast.
During the panel, the first woman signed AEW discussed breaking out of the shadow of her boyfriend, NXT Champion Adam Cole, and being excited to get the recognition she feels she's earned by being much more than just Adam’s girlfriend.
"For the longest time, a lot of people only knew me as Adam Cole's girlfriend, so-- and, as much as I love him to death and I will never be angry or ashamed of someone that says, 'Oh, that's Britt Baker, she's Adam Cole's girlfriend,'" Baker began. "But now, with AEW and my position here, and the fact that I'm a dentist and a wrestler and the first woman signed, I feel like now is finally my time where I'm kind of like veering away from that title. And for me, it's so rewarding. I'm never angry or mad if someone says, 'oh, that's Adam Cole's girlfriend,' but I am my own person, too. So this I feel like this is my time."
Baker and Cole will enter a new phase of their professional lives as both take part in the impending Wednesday Night War. With Cole already at the top of NXT and Britt Baker having her eyes on being the inaugural All Elite Wrestling Women's World Champion, this pro wrestling couple can be equated to the Romeo and Juliet of modern-day pro wrestling.
The first night of head-to-head competition between the two brands will be Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
