Caprice Coleman continues to shine in the wrestling world in a number of ways.
In recent years, Coleman has worked as a commentator for Ring of Honor, and he also returned to the ring for the promotion last year. He has also done commentary for AEW, and the veteran remains active in the ring for the NWA and other promotions.
In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Coleman discussed how he wears different hats and noted that he has earned this opportunity.
“AEW sees me as a commentator for Ring of Honor; the NWA sees me as a wrestler. They both expect a high level from me, and that’s what I want. That’s why I put all these years into it. Some people call me the Swiss Army knife of pro wrestling. That versatility is something I earned," Coleman said.
Speaking of this versatility, while he won't be wearing a headset for his match against Colby Corino at NWA 74, he stated that he'll still be calling the action.
“A lot of times, I commentate the matches I wrestle. Just doing it for myself, but I’m always listening to and learning from how the crowd responds," he said.
Coleman has been in the business for 25 years, and while he enjoyed some prominence throughout his time with ROH, he hasn't received an opportunity with a leading promotion like WWE or AEW. But that hasn't stopped him from putting in the work and focusing on his goals.
“The whole thing is consistency and staying with it. If you aren’t true to yourself, you’ll be swayed by anything that is presented to you. I had to buckle in on who I am and who I wanted to represent. Loyalty has been my best friend and worst enemy. But the test is staying true to it," Coleman said.
Coleman's pursuit of greatness will continue at NWA 74, a two-night event that will honor the NWA's past and feature its current stars. More information about the first night of the event is available here. The updated card for Sunday's show is available here.
