Carmelo Hayes Denies Attacking Trick Williams, 'Taking Out My Best Friend For A Title? That's Crazy'

Carmelo Hayes is innocent. Well, at least he says he is.

Moments before he was set to compete in a four way match to determine the number one contender to the NXT Championship on the October 17 episode of NXT, Trick Williams was attacked backstage and removed from the match. Williams' friend, Carmelo Hayes, went on to win the match, earning himself another shot at Ilja Dragunov and his world title gold.

Many fans have been quick to point the finger at Hayes for the attack, but he isn't having it.

In a backstage interview on the October 24 episode of WWE NXT, Hayes denied attacking Williams, saying that the idea of attacking your best friend for a championship is crazy.

It is currently unknown when Trick Williams will return to WWE NXT. Fightful will update fans when more information is made available.
