Cheeseburger Talks Japan, Chris Jericho, Starting Off In ROH

Cheeseburger is an unlikely wrestling success story. From Ring of Honor to New Japan, even Cheeseburger himself is surprised.

Cheeseburger made a surprise appearance at Wrestle Kingdom this year, almost immediately endearing himself to the Japanese crowd. When speaking to The Kevin Gill Show recently, the undersized ROH star said that it was a dream come true.

Triple H Says WWE Started Talking To Bad Bunny After He Spit Water During NBA Game

"Going to Japan was always my dream for so long. That was one of my biggest goals in wrestling. I'm such a fan of the people there, the culture, the food... The fans are so nice. I didn't think anybody would know who I was but then fans were coming to me like, please sign this! I was like, this is awesome," he said.

Not only has Cheeseburger endeared himself to fans, but wrestlers, opponents and bookers alike. He's been called Chris Jericho and Jushin Liger's favorite wrestler, and actually appeared on Jericho's podcast.

"(Chris Jericho) had seen my name around before and one he day he caught my match on a ring of Honor show and tweeted out that his favorite wrestler was Cheeseburger," Cheeseburger said.

The ROH talent also said that he considers himself fortunate to be where he is, as he got to bypass a lot of independent wrestling's lows by going straight to ROH, even debuting in a huge match.

"I'm luckier than most people as I was bought up in a very good system. I never experience that terrible, s--tty indy phase cause I was born and raised in the Ring of Honor system," Cheeseburger recalled. "My first Ring of Honor match was in Chicago, and it was me and Roddy versus Red Dragon for the Tag belts, and it was accidently announced as a tag title match."

Ring of Honor returns to PPV tonight for Death Before Dishonor. Fightful.com will have full, live coverage, as well as a viewing party.
