On the November 2 episode of AEW Dynamite in Baltimore, ROH World Champion Chris Jericho was ready to take any and all former ROH champions. He was also ready to take on a former NFL MVP, saying he would "whip Lamar Jackson's ass."
The comment drew a laugh out of Jackson, who was sitting ringside. Jackson later responded that he didn't initially hear what Jericho said and laughed when he was told.
Speaking to Sedano & Kap on ESPN Los Angeles, Jericho discussed the callout of Jackson.
"The thing about Lamar Jackson that was great is, I know football, but I don't live in Baltimore so I'm not very familiar with the Ravens. Lamar was there earlier and asked to take a picture with me, he's a big fan of wrestling and Chris Jericho. When I saw him in the crowd, I was like, 'Oh, this is great, we're friends now, we took a picture together. I can say this and he'll get a little laugh, but no one else knows that we just spent 10 minutes prior (hanging out).' They don't think Jericho is going to call out Lamar Jackson. What it does is, it gets tons of mainstream publicity for AEW, tons of mainstream publicity for Lamar Jackson, everybody wins," Jericho said.
Jackson is set to take the field on Monday Night Football when the Baltimore Ravens take on the New Orleans Saints.
Meanwhile, Jericho will defend the ROH World Title in a four-way bout against Sammy Guevara, Bryan Danielson, and Claudio Castagnoli at AEW Full Gear.
