Christian Cage recalls Marc Mero taking his cutter finisher.
Before he used the Unprettier/Killswitch, Christian Cage says he was planning on using the TKO, a fireman's carry into a diamond cutter.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Christian recalled wanting to use the finisher, and Marc Mero taking it.
"Somebody else once stole my finish. Marc Mero stole my TKO. He was training coming back from injury, I was training at Bret Hart's place in Calgary. I did a version of the Diamond Cutter where I pick the guy up onto my shoulders and would then spin them off and hit a cutter. I did it in a match and Marc was sitting on the floor watching. He said, 'Hey, can you do that again?' I did it again. He said, 'Want to grab a bite to eat?' 'Sure.' We went and grabbed a bite to eat. We were talking about some Japanese wrestling and different stuff. He said, 'I'm going back in about a month.' 'Cool.' 'Would you mind if I use that finish?' I went [sighs]. This is a guy who is already signed. It was when he was coming back with the boxer gimmick. What are you supposed to say? This is a guy who is where I want to be. 'I'll think of something else. Go ahead and you use it.' He was nice enough to buy me dinner. Everything happens for a reason and this finish suits me more," said Christian.
Christian previously discussed the origins of the Killswitch finisher. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
Christian is currently signed to AEW, and proclaims himself to be the father of Tony Khan.
