CM Punk reflects on his immediate reaction to tearing his triceps at the 2024 Royal Rumble.
At the 2024 Royal Rumble, CM Punk would make his televised return to the ring for WWE, entering the match late on. However, when Drew McIntyre entered the match and hit a Future Shock DDT on Punk, it became clear Punk had been hurt. It would later be revealed that Punk had suffered a torn triceps at the hands of McIntyre.
While speaking during a sit down interview with Michael Cole ahead of SummerSlam 2024, Punk was asked about the injury and how he immediately reacted.
"It came right out of my mouth. I said, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I immediately reached over, felt a quarter-sized hole in my arm, and I just said, okay, well, it's already gone. There's nothing you can do. Let's try to get through this."
Despite the injury, Punk would stay busy and terrorised Drew McIntyre throughout his time on the shelf, with the pair's rivalry culminating at SummerSlam on August 3rd.
