After leaving WWE in 2016, Cody went on an Independent run that included stops at Ring of Honor, PWG, EVOLVE, and more.

Cody's time in IMPACT was short-lived and as he explained on social media in response to a photo posted by Garrett Kidney, his IMPACT run helped lead to the formation of All Elite Wrestling.
I was genuinely only there 2 days as a favor to Josh M and to help my Wife get started. Nice lil’ experience.

The team Canada guy gave away my parking spot to ADR. I then committed to ROH, Bucks and I did All In...and the rest is history.
My pettiness has led to greatness ha.
"The Team Canada Guy" is not specified. Scott D'Amore, former leader of Team Canada, was an executive for Global Force Wrestling in 2016 and were nearing a partnership with IMPACT Wrestling. Other famous members of Team Canada include Robert Roode (no longer with the company at the time), Petey Williams (retired at the time), and Eric Young (no longer with the company at the time).
ADR is a reference to the former Alberto Del Rio, who worked as Alberto El Patron in IMPACT while Josh M would seem to be a reference to Josh Mathews.
Cody's pettiness has him as a co-executive vice president of All Elite Wrestling, who is now in a partnership with IMPACT, where D'Amore serves as co-executive vice president.
