Cody Rhodes Beats Shinsuke Nakamura In Bull Rope Match, Gets Attacked By Drew McIntyre On 2/5 WWE Raw

Cody Rhodes has seemingly finished one chapter and wound up in another.

On the February 2 episode of WWE Raw, Cody Rhodes announced that he would not be facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. The Rock came out and confronted Reigns, seemingly setting the stage for a match between the two and leaving Rhodes' road to WrestleMania unclear. Shinsuke Nakamura then reignited his feud with Rhodes by attacking him backstage at a live event on February 3.

Rhodes battled Nakamura in a Bull Rope match in the main event of the February 5 episode of WWE Rw. Per Michael Cole, this marked the first "serious" Bull Rope match on WWE programming in nearly 17 years. Rhodes and Nakamura battled it out with the same bull rope Cody's father Dusty used throughout his legendary career. They brawled throughout the contest and inflicted plenty of bell-based punishment on each other. In a tribute to his father, Cody hit the Bionic Elbow.

He dropped Nakamura with one Crossrhodes, even after Shinsuke misted him. Cody then pulled the bull rope between Nakamura's legs and pinned him with a second Crossrhodes. After the bell, Drew McIntyre blindsided Rhodes and laid him out as Raw came to an end.
