Cody Rhodes hears the rumors.
Cody Rhodes has made it clear that he intends to win the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble and headline WrestleMania 40, as he wants to finish the story after he lost to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. But in recent weeks, rumors about WrestleMania have heated up, as The Rock returned at WWE Raw Day One and teased a match with Reigns.
His appearance led to speculation that he could be Reigns' opponent at WrestleMania. Meanwhile, as reported by Fightful Select, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has suffered a torn MCL and partially torn meniscus, which has prompted more uncertainty surrounding WrestleMania 40.
The State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, hosted the January episode of WWE SmackDown. After the show went off the air, Cody Rhodes appeared and addressed the crowd. He looked back on his journey in recent months before he referenced the rumors about WrestleMania. Rhodes then emphasized his intent to bring a championship home.
“Atlanta is my hometown. I’ve done some silly stuff here. Jumped off of a cage that was too high, set myself on fire, got into a fight with Brock Lesnar. I’ve done a few silly things. But all of them were in the efforts to give this city, the town, the community that raised me something to remember. When you’re home, you share things that only you would share at home. Here’s one. There is only one thing that makes me tired of coming home. The only thing that makes me tired when coming home is coming home empty-handed. I think we need to change that. I am not immune to all the news, everything that’s happening, what will happen, what won’t happen. All I can tell you is this. I’m the right man for the job. I’m the best man for the job. I’m heading into the Royal Rumble, I’m gonna go back-to-back, and I’m gonna bring a championship back home to Atlanta," Rhodes said.
