Cody Rhodes should have known better.
On the May 31 episode of WWE SmackDown, AJ Styles came to the ring and teased announcing his retirement. He called out Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. They shared an emotional moment as Styles said he was handing Rhodes the keys to the house that he built. However, it was all a ruse, as Styles attacked Rhodes and left him lying.
Speaking on The Babyfaces Podcast, Cody Rhodes looked forward to the June 7 episode of WWE SmackDown and commented on Styles' actions.
"Obviously, we will follow up AJ not retiring when we were absolutely certain he was retiring. As someone who loves wrestling, who studies wrestling, and considers himself a historian of wrestling, I’m not sure how I was dumb enough to take the bait, but we’ll get to the bottom of the why tonight," Rhodes said.
