Cody Rhodes ran into some old friends on NXT.
On the June 11 episode of WWE NXT, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes made a special appearance. He spoke with NXT Champion Trick Williams and gave Jacy Jayne the mask he wore during his "Dashing" days.
Near the end of the show, Rhodes was walking backstage when he bumped into Shawn Spears. Spears vowed to win the battle royal for an NXT Title shot on the June 18 episode of NXT. Cody said he believed it.
Ethan Page interrupted and wondered why Rhodes did not want to wish him good luck in the match. Lexis King rolled up and said he would win the battle royal. Rhodes hesitated before he said it seemed like they all were in a good place.

The segment marked the reunion of four stars who previously worked for AEW. Rhodes was a founding EVP of AEW, and he feuded with Shawn Spears in the promotions' first year. He held the TNT Championship three times, but he left the promotion in February 2022 and returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38.
King, also known as Brian Pillman Jr., had a fairly prominent run in AEW and was featured as a member of the Varsity Blonds. He left the company when his contract expired in July 2023, and he subsequently signed with WWE. He made his official debut at NXT Halloween Havoc in October.
Spears had a run as a member of The Pinnacle in AEW. He left the company at the end of 2023 and returned to NXT in February 2024.
Page had a memorable run in AEW/ROH. He was paired up with Scorpio Sky, and he also had a run as a member of The Firm. He left the company earlier in 2024 and joined WWE in May.
