Curtis Axel: CM Punk Gets A Bad Rap, He Always Helped Me Out

Curtis Axel says CM Punk has been nothing but a help for him.

CM Punk has been a polarizing figure in the wrestling world, especially since he left WWE in 2014. His AEW run included two backstage altercations that ultimately led to his contracts being terminated. Punk has received rave reviews for his behavior since he returned to WWE in 20243. Former WWE star Curtis Axel, who worked with Punk when he was a member of The Nexus, recently shared his thoughts on working with Punk.

Speaking on Monte & The Pharaoh, Curtis Axel was asked to comment on whether CM Punk gets a bad rap.

"He does get a bad rap. He helped me out a lot. I’m friends with him. We’ve been boys. We’ve had battles, bad battles, all over the world. He’s been nothing but a help for me. I know where people can say he has a bad reputation because of his attitude, but you kind of have to have that with this industry. You have to have that ‘don’t give a hell about whatever’ and you just go and do you. If you don’t have self-confidence and ‘I’m better than you,’ then you’re going to fail. Punk has always had that. I have nothing but respect for him. He’s helped me. I would love to fight him again. We’ve had some battles. We’re both Heyman guys," Axel said.

Danhausen recently credited CM Punk as one of the people who helped him get a job at AEW. Check out his comments here.
