MJ took Daniel Garcia out with a vicious attack on the July 3rd episode of AEW Dynamite, and Garcia has been absent ever since. AEW later announced that Garcia was under care for cervical injuries he suffered in the attack.

Speaking on Close Up with Renee Paquette, Matt Menard discussed MJF's attack and noted that they did not know when Garcia would return.

“This time has been stolen from him. What, it’s been two, three weeks now since Max did whatever he did. We don’t know when Daniel’s gonna come back. He lost all the strength in the left side of his body. [His body] has been through so much, and doctors are very careful. We do not know when Daniel’s going to come back. I just hope he makes a full recovery. It’s sad," Menard said

Menard previously said that Garcia would make a full recovery, and "Red Death" was coming for MJF.
