For the first time in over eleven years, Daniel Bryan will wrestle Samoa Joe.
While Daniel Bryan was unable to compete, Samoa Joe was making his way through NXT and onto the main roster. After three years of being out of action, Bryan is finally able to wrestle some of the names that were not in WWE before his injuries.
On Smackdown, Samoa Joe was scheduled to face Big Cass in a Money in the Bank qualifying match but an injury caused Big Cass to be pulled from the match. Two wrestlers who had already lost a qualifying match in Jeff Hardy and Bryan wrestled on Smackdown to determine who would face Samoa Joe next week.
Bryan won and he will wrestle Samoa Joe for the first time since 2006 when the two were in a Steel Cage match at a Ring of Honor event. They had several matches against each other in Ring of Honor including a World Championship match that ended after a sixty minute time limit draw.
Fightful Wrestling has live coverage of Smackdown each week and a recapping podcast after the show.
