I don't know about you, but I'm getting a hankering for some Doublemint gum.
Darby Allin was the most recent guest on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast and spoke about his involvement with the always-running MTV series, Ridiculousness. According to the former AEW TNT Champion, a friend got him involved and connected him to a producer with whom he could share his footage. He then divulged the gnarliest stunt he pulled, which resulted in him having to get medical tests done. That said, he appreciates the show for giving him the confidence he needed to put himself out there. Here's how the story goes:
"So I had this crazy skateboarder friend named Matt Schlager," Darby began. "He was flown down there to be a special guest on the show because he tried to ollie the equivalent of a 32-stair, in the rain, and just totally ate shit. So I was talking to him, I'm like, 'man I got all this crazy footage,' and he's like, 'yeah, I'll just hook you up with a producer.' So I was just sending him all the footage and, you know, they were hitting me up and it was good. It was real fun. But I guess the most gnarly one that I did was lick the gum wall in Seattle. I licked the whole entire wall and I bit the side off of it and chewed it. I got tested the next day because people were like, 'yo, you know rats piss on that and whatnot,' and I was like, 'oh yeah?' It tasted good though. That type of stuff, like Ridiculousness, that's when it started giving me confidence too. Because people will say you're a freak or a weirdo but then when you say, 'yo, I was on MTV, though,' all those people are like, 'well that's pretty cool, though!' I'm like, 'but a week earlier you were saying I was a fucking loser.' Those shows are fun. They're really addicting."
Allin would conclude by saying that he doesn't own a TV but eventually wants to, at the very least, get WiFi in his home.
Darby lost the TNT Title to Miro on the May 19 episode of AEW Dynamite, thanks in no small part to being thrown down a flight of steps the week prior by Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky. He will team with Sting at Double or Nothing to take on Page and Sky.
Fightful will have live coverage of the event on Sunday, May 30 beginning at 4 p.m. PST.
