Davey Richards: There Has Been A Vocalization For Me To Face Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho is set to defend the ROH World Championship on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite against a former ROH Champion.

Jericho has already defeated former champions Bandido, Dalton Castle, and Bryan Danielson in his quest to destroy ROH.

Fans have speculated on who Jericho will face on Dynamite and one name that continues to pop up is Davey Richards.

Appearing on Battleground podcast, Richards was asked if he could confirm or deny that he would be on AEW Dynamite.

"No because that takes away the fun of it," he said. "I'm just taken aback by it. This sounds like such an arrogant move and I hope people know what I mean and know that I'm not an arrogant person; if it's anyone but me, I feel people are going to be disappointed because I'm so blessed. There has been such a vocalization, 'It should be Davey.' For people that still want to see me do that, that's so cool. That's motivation."

When asked if he would be open to face Jericho or appear for ROH at some point if it doesn't happen on Wednesday, Richards said, "When I came back to wrestling, I didn't know if I wanted to do it full-time or if people would want to see me. My work rate is most important and I feel better than ever. I want to eventually go to a bigger company, preferably with Eddie (Edwards), but he has a really good deal with IMPACT. I don't know where the future lies, but that's definitely a goal. For the right reasons. It's not just about the money. My main job at this stage in wrestling is to give back to wrestling and help people. I feel I can do that and I can also wrestle. We'll see what happens."

Richards won the ROH World Title at ROH Best in the World 2011 and held the title for over 300 days before losing it to Kevin Owens (Kevin Steen) at ROH Border Wars 2012.

Richards is currently signed to MLW and is the reigning MLW National Openweight Champion. He will defend the title against Colby Corino at NWA Hard Times 3.

Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
