The Fightful alum with a bright future ahead of her.
At the age of 24-years old "The Virtuosa" has traveled the world as a professional wrestler. Deonna was trained in Louisville, KY by former 3-time OVW Heavyweight Champion Rip Rodgers. She has competed in TNA, STARDOM, made a number of appearances for WWE throughout the years and over the past three years she has been a staple in Ring Of Honor's Women Of Honor division.
Earlier this year it was reported that Deonna Purrazzo signed a contract with WWE which was followed by her pulling out of the 'All In' event on September 1st. Yesterday, WWE unveiled the new class of signees and in that class was Purrazzo. As she was announced as one of the latest WWE signees, she was also slated to be partaking in the Mae Young Classic II which begins its tapings at Full Sail University next month. In the midst of the whirlwind of news for Purrazzo, she spoke with Brian Fritz of Sporting News and shared that she has a plan to get in contact with and pick the brain of a woman who has had success in the sports-entertainment company, the returning former WWE Divas Champion Kaitlyn.
“The first Mae Young Classic competitor announced was former WWE Divas Champion Kaitlyn,” said Purrazzo. “I'm really excited to meet her and to pick her brain and to see what she has to say and just watch her come back.”
Making the jump from Ring Of Honor to NXT was not a tugging decision for Deonna as she shared that she has always wanted to be a part of the company. After making sporadic appearances and serving as an enhancement talent, she has now officially become a part of World Wrestling Entertainment.
“Your dream job comes along once in a lifetime,” Purrazzo explained. “So, to give up other opportunities wasn't a big deal to me because this is where I wanted to be. I wanted to be a part of NXT. I wanted to come to the Performance Center every day and work towards being a WWE superstar one day.”
The 2017 Women Of Honor wrestler of the year is also a Fightful alum and wrote a number of articles that are still available to read here on the site. Check out Deonna Purrazzo's pro-series in her own section on Fightful.
