Deonna Purrazzo Thinks She And Britt Baker Should Team Up And Pursue The Knockouts Tag Team Titles

Deonna Purrazzo wouldn't mind being a triple-champ.

Ever since her release from WWE in April 2020, Deonna Purrazzo has become one of the preeminent names in the world of professional wrestling. She is on her second reign as Knockouts Champion and come November 14, will have held the belt for exactly one year.

One of The Virtuosa's best friends is AEW Women's World Champion, Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. Speaking with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp (full interview above), Purrazzo revealed that both she and Britt have approached Scott D'Amore (IMPACT Executive Vice President) and Tony Khan (AEW President) and asked about working with one another. While it hasn't come to fruition yet, Deonna likes the idea of teaming with Baker more so than facing her.

"Yeah. I know that Britt and I have both done that. Went to Scott and to went Tony and was like, ‘When can we make this happen?’ I think it was a matter of time and when it would be right. That’s why I started saying, ‘We should just be a tag team.’ Because one of us has to lose a championship if we wrestle each other, but if we wrestle with each other against two other people, maybe at IMPACT! Wrestling where there’s Knockouts Tag Team Champions, we can wrestle the champions and become tag team champions together," Purrazzo said. "So that way it’s the best way of both worlds. No one is the loser in that situation. We all win, right?"

Britt Baker won the AEW Women's Championship from Hikaru Shida at Double or Nothing and most recently defended the belt against Ruby Soho. Her next challenger is Anna Jay, who she will face next Friday, October 22, on AEW Rampage.

Deonna's other best friend, Chelsea Green, has been busy since departing WWE, having made appearances for NWA, IMPACT, Ring of Honor, and GCW, among others.

Purrazzo told Fightful that if she was to start a tag team, there's no one she would join forces with aside from Britt and Chelsea. She believes that their history, dynamic, and familiarity are all qualities you need in a partner when pursuing championship gold.

"No, I think it's Chelsea or Britt," Deonna laughingly insisted. "I just feel like those are legit my two real-life best friends. They're the people I talk to all day, every single day. So I just think that that works. Those are the two people that I travelled the country with, that I shared hotel rooms with, and I shared cars with them. Chelsea lived with me at one point and was training to get back in the ring after she had an injury. So, those are people that I've lived this whole life with, and I don't think that there's any better person I can have a better relationship with than those two. So, I know that's what doesn't make a tag team, right, but I think that having that dynamic and being able to finish each other's sentences and being able to know what each other are thinking, or things like that really benefits having a tag team partner that can do that and then going for the gold because you can anticipate everyone's movements."

Up next for Deonna is a defence of her Knockouts Championship against Mickie James at IMPACT Bound For Glory on October 23. Tensions have been mounting ever since The Virtuosa declined Mickie's initial invitation to NWA EmPowerrr. In the months since then, both have women have attacked each other, with Purrazzo even making a visit to James' home.

Fightful will have live coverage of IMPACT Bound For Glory this Saturday beginning at 10 p.m. EST with a post-show review immediately following its conclusion.
