This is The Way.
At Starrcast V, Johnny Gargano spoke at the What's NeXT live stage show. He took a chronological look back on his run with WWE NXT. Once he started talking about his heel turn, he brought his wife, Candice LeRae, to the stage. The duo then discussed the formation of The Way, and when Dexter Lumis came up, the man himself stood up in the crowd. He took a seat next to the host, Kenny McIntosh.
Gargano proceeded to talk about Lumis' courtship of Indi Hartwell and recalled the memorable wedding between the two. When he asked Lumis about it, the latter simply nodded his approval and gave the former NXT Champion a thumbs up. Having not seen him in a while, Gargano wondered what he was up to, saying, "You’re doing indies now? You love doing Indies."
Gargano left WWE in December 2021, but Lumis and Hartwell remained happily married for the next few months. WWE released Lumis in a wave of cuts in April, and he has since returned to the independent scene. He competed at NWA Alwayz Ready.
