Dolph Ziggler Implies Money And Matches Were The Reason For His Smackdown Absence

Dolph Ziggler disappeared from WWE TV without much reason given  in December, abandoning the WWE United States Championship in the process.

After not appearing for well over a month, Ziggler appeared in the WWE Royal Rumble as a late entrant in the match. This week on WWE Smackdown Live, it was announced that Ziggler would take on Baron Corbin on next week's show.

The situation continued to develop from there, as Thursday morning WWE Smackdown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon revealed that the winner of that match would be inserted into the WWE Championship match at WWE Fastlane currently featuring champion AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

With a lot of questions and few answers, it appears as if the former World Heavyweight Champion in Ziggler has taken it upon himself to try to make sense of the situation from a storyline perspective. He tweeted Thursday morning that money and big matches "drew him back" to the WWE, before referencing Shane McMahon himself.

Ziggler lasted all of two minutes in the Royal Rumble.
