Dustin Rhodes On Cody Rhodes' AEW Departure: I Was He Was Still Here, But He's Doing Amazing

Dustin Rhodes and Chris Jericho discuss Cody Rhodes' AEW departure.

As an Executive Vice President, Cody Rhodes was one of the founders of All Elite Wrestlin alongside Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson. He was one of the company's top stars, and he became a three-time TNT Champion. In February 2022, Rhodes left AEW and subsequently returned to WWE. Meanwhile, Dustin Rhodes, his brother, has worked for AEW since 2019, and he stayed with the company following Cody's exit.

Speaking with Chris Jericho on Talk Is Jericho, Dustin was asked to describe how he felt about Cody's departure and his return to WWE. He responded by noting that he was somewhat down, but seeing his brother's WrestleMania moment was remarkable.

“Kind of down, a little bit. But Cody, he’s still young. There’s such an age gap, 16 years. He’s kind of in his prime now. But watching him return on WrestleMania was just huge. I’m not gonna miss any of his stuff. He’s on the rise to become a champion, and I really think he’s set the tone for that in his last eight years of work and things that he’s done," Dustin said.

He continued by describing how Cody has a creative mind for the business, much like their father, Dusty Rhodes. Dustin then stated that while he wishes Cody was still in AEW, he's doing great.

"He’s very professional. He’s very different than I am. We’re two completely opposite people. He has that creative mind like my dad had, and I’m more grunt, the worker in the family. But he is surpassing everything. He’s doing amazing. But yeah, I wish he was still here," Dustin said.

Jericho shared his thoughts by noting that he still gets texts from Cody, who says he misses his former colleagues in AEW. Jericho stated that he misses him too because they got closer throughout Cody's time in AEW.

"I get texts from him, actually quite frequently. He goes, I miss you guys, man. I miss you guys. I do miss having him around. I got much closer with him, for obvious reasons, in AEW, than I ever was in WWE. But I still always had a connection with him in WWE as well. He just always was the type of guy that… I like that guy," Jericho said.
