Edge appears in Hart Country one week ahead of his 25-year anniversary celebration and he makes a major challenge for the August 18 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Edge was not announced to appear on SmackDown on August 11, but he did appear in Calgary, Alberta, Canada because he felt it was too long since he had seen the Calgary WWE Universe.
Edge also appeared because he wanted to make the August 18 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown special for more than just his Homecoming in Toronto. Edge challenged Sheamus to a match. In all the time since they had been in WWE, they'd never gone one-on-one, and Edge wants to change that.
He told the story about how appearing on Sheamus' Celtic Warrior Workouts YouTube channel and falling off his bike were catalysts for returning to WWE. Edge invited Sheamus to the ring to accept his challenge.
Sheamus told his own story about how Edge took some time to speak to him in 2004 and kept his fire alive for one day, making it to WWE. Seamus did accept the challenge, and while things mostly remained friendly, he issued a final warning to Edge that he might have made a mistake.
With an agreement to share a pint of Guinness following the match, these two grizzled veterans will go one-on-one for the first time ever in Toronto on August 18.
