Eli Drake Announces That He Is Officially A Free Agent

Eli Drake thanks IMPACT and announces his free agency.

IMPACT Wrestling put out a statement in April which read that they were terminating their relationship with former IMPACT World Champion Eli Drake. At the time of the announcement from IMPACT, Eli Drake's contract was set to expire on May 31st and today Eli put out a statement on Twitter to announce that he is officially as free agent.

Eli Drake was scheduled to take on Tessa Blanchard at IMPACT's 'United We Stand' show during WrestleMania 35 weekend but pulled out of the match because he did not want to partake in inter-gender wrestling. Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp reported in early May that Eli's termination from IMPACT came by way of his refusal to wrestle Tessa Blanchard. A source close to the situation shared that IMPACT writers felt that Eli spoke negatively of them when he joined the Wrestling Perspective podcast with Petey Williams.

Here's an excerpt from that podcast when Eli talked about his future after IMPACT:

It's time to start thinking about what options I have. Should I stay or should I go? We will find out. There are so many options out there. How can I best boost my brand awareness and how can I put more money in my pocket? It's a matter of figuring out what's going to work best for me long-term."

Eli Drake was thankful towards IMPACT Wrestling in his statement and closed his message by noting that he hopes the company has nothing but success going forward.
