Elijah (Elias) Comments On His New Ring Name, Still Thinks Seattle Doesn't Deserve A Basketball Team

Elijah comments on his new ring name. Plus, his feelings about Seattle have not changed.

WWE released Elias in a round of cuts on September 21. Since then, the former WWE 24/7 Champion has rebranded as Elias, and he is prepared to hit the ground running on the independent scene, as he has been announced for multiple upcoming shows.

Speaking on a Virtual Gimmick Table with Highspots Superstore, the former Elias was asked whether he picked his new name due to his relationship with John the Baptist.

"Yeah, that’s exactly right. That’s good. I love all the biblical names, if you can’t tell by now. Elias, Ezekiel, Elijah, you got the Heavy Metal Jesus from my past life, so yeah, that’s where Elijah comes from," he said.

Elijah was also asked whether he still thinks Seattle does not deserve a basketball team. He jokingly stated that he still felt that way, and he would love to remind the Seattle fans about it.

"[Laughs] Of course, yeah. I would love to get back out there and let them know exactly how I feel," he said.

Elias and Kevin Owens memorably insulted Seattle for their lack of a basketball team on Raw in 2018. Elias previously said he was worried he would get yelled at for going over the time limit of the segment. Click here to see what he had to say.
