Eric Young was set to form a trio with Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas.
In November 2022, Eric Young made steps towards a return to WWE, signing a contract with the company just over two years after being released from his deal. Young would never appear in the promotion throughout the duration of his second contract, as he requested his release in 2023 after Vince McMahon forced his way back into the company. Young went on to return to TNA Wrestling at the Slammiversary event in July.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet for a new interview, Young revealed that the original plan called for him to form a trio with Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas.
“Yeah. I think the original idea was me, Bray, and Bo as a trio. That’s what was told to me from Hunter basically. Obviously, I’m gonna jump at that, I’m friends with both of those guys. Creatively, it would’ve been just an unbelievable opportunity. Working there, working on the main roster, wrestling all over the world with two guys that I get along with well. Obviously, a huge part of the show at that point, The Fiend and Bray was one of the most popular things at that time. They put up one of those viral videos and they’d be viewed within six hours by millions of people. Being a part of that was very appetizing and it’s kind of not in my wheelhouse but close enough to my wheelhouse where I would’ve enjoyed it. It would have been challenging but in a really cool way."
Young went on to explain that he couldn't work for a person like Vince McMahon, which prompted him to ask for his release after McMahon had forced his way back into the company.
In a seperate interview, Young spoke about how he's enjoying what he's currently doing in TNA. Learn more about those comments here.
