Gunther enjoyed the program he had with The Miz in 2023.
Gunther is the longest-reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion of all time. During his iconic 666-day run, Gunther defended the championship against The Miz at the 2023 WWE Survivor Series event. The story centered around the different philosophies Miz and Gunther approach their wrestling careers with, a common theme in top rivalries for both men.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Gunther revealed that that was one of his favorite programs so far in WWE. While he never envisioned himself enjoying a program with Miz that much, he found himself drawn to the challenges.
"I never envisioned Miz as one of my favorite opponents, but the program I did with him for the IC Title is one of my favorite ones. Similar with the stuff with Jey, it’s complete opposites, and it challenges me to find a different route to make it work for my side. I always hope I can challenge the other person to take that extra step to try something new. On paper, there are things, ‘I’m going to enjoy that,’ and sometimes it doesn’t turn out like that. The stuff where you go, ‘let’s see how that goes,’ it’s fantastic."
