Ethan Page Retains NXT Title At NXT No Mercy, Will Defend Title On 10/1 NXT On CW Premiere

Ethan Page retained his NXT Championship in the main event of NXT No Mercy, defeating TNA wrestler Joe Hendry.

Trick Williams served as the special guest referee, and had to count the pinfall after Page delivered the Ego's Edge.

In the lead up to the finish, Trick stopped the count as Hendry pinned Page following the Standing Ovation as Page's foot was under the rope. As Hendry and Trick conferred, Page shoved Hendry into Trick, sending him to the outside. Another official ran down, but as he tried to count three following Page delivering a DDT on Hendry onto the NXT Title, Trick broke the count to remind the replacement official that he was put in charge of the match.

Page went to strike Trick, but he moved and Page struck the replacement official. As Trick checked on the official, Page low blowed Hendry and delivered the Ego's Edge for the victory.

After the match, Dunne attacked Trick. The two men are set to meet on the September 3rd episode of NXT.

As per NXT GM Ava, Page will defend the title on the October 1st episode of NXT, which is the CW premiere for the brand. The show will take place in Chicago and includes an appearance by CM Punk.

Page has now made three successful defenses of the NXT Title. He won the title at NXT Heatwave in a four-way contest that included Trick, Shawn Spears, and Je'Von Evans.
