EVIL Attacks Jon Moxley, Defaces The IWGP World Title After Moxley's Defense At NJPW Resurgence

Jon Moxley did not get a minute of respite after successfully defending the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Resurgence.

NJPW Resurgence seemed like it was going to end with a touching display of mutual respect after Jon Moxley successfully defended the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against his protege, Shota Umino. Both men exhausted their move-sets, with Umino especially having multiple moments where he nearly became the new World Heavyweight Champion, but in the end, MOX was able to put him down with a Death Rider.

As both men were taking a moment to soak in the moment after the 30-minute-plus battle, Ren Narita and EVIL of the House of Torture hit the ring and attacked both men. EVIL declared himself to be the next challenger for the title before declaring himself to be the rightful champion and defacing the championship with black spray paint. The show ended with Jon Moxley struggling to regain his wits and realizing what EVIL had done to the championship.

EVIL did not throw out a specific date for his challenge. Fightful will continue to update fans on Jon Moxley's schedule as the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
