Exclusive: WCW Producer Neal Pruitt Talks Filming Ric Flair For WCW Segments

Neal Pruitt says Ric Flair caused him trouble in the editing room.

In an interview on Fightful Wrestling's podcast The List and Ya Boy, former WCW producer Neal Pruitt revealed Ric Flair did not film his segments like other wrestlers. Pruitt said the wrestlers were supposed to keep the same appearance throughout the night to maintain continuity between segments and matches. Flair was not a help in this department.

"Whoever was on the show and on the segment, they would look identical from take one to take two. At first, Flair never did. He would have his hair slicked back and when he was actually live in front of the crowd it would be all poofed up like he wanted it to be," said Pruitt.

Pruitt would edit segments and help find their place during a sometimes live broadcast. He said he always had difficulty when it came to Flair

"It was pretty difficult because I was editing these pieces together because the four horseman bits were really good. We just couldn't use all of it," said Pruitt. "Any time you want to make a film or a segment like that. It's going to be best to have as many takes as possible....it gives you more options," he continued.

Also during the interview, Pruitt discussed some of the struggles of working on WCW Nitro and his opinion on WWE's current production style. Neal Pruitt's Secrets of WCW Nitro podcast is available for download on his website and iTunes.
