Braun Strowman was preparing to free his narrative even before his WWE release was official.
When Braun Strowman was released by WWE on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, it was not certain whether or not he would have a future in wrestling after he’d openly stated that he would never wrestle for anyone other than Vince McMahon.
Now, he is preparing to start the next phase of his career with Free The Narrative II, the latest in a series of events put on by EC3 to help his fellow wrestlers free their individuality.
Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp, EC3 and JC, the man helping put together these events, revealed that ideas for Braun Strowman becoming the focal point of the next event begin 24 hours before his WWE release was official.
"The idea started the day before the formerly known as Braun Strowman, aka Adam Scherr, was released from WWE. The discussions of this took place serendipitously, synchronized almost, so ironically sitting in this very room, talking about life and business. He was mentioning how he watched Free The Narrative I, it was the first time he watched a wrestling product from beginning to end and was kind of infatuated," said EC3.
JC added, "He said he couldn't sleep at night, he was so creatively driven."
EC3 remarked that the former WWE Universal Champion was sharing ideas regarding what he would want to see himself become just a day before he was released by WWE.
"He just started flowing ideas about, 'if this ever happened, what I would do in it and if I ever had the chance to be myself, here's who I would become' and it was all heartwarming, especially considering the size and strength of this man, to see him have true emotions of reality, to see him taken aback. Then, the next day, he was released.
JC noted that they were actually filming content for Adam’s acting career before then and they were building towards potential ideas for when his contract will expire before being hit with the news that he was released.
"We were filming stuff for his acting career before. He was so busy that we didn't see him for a few months and when we started throwing ideas back and forth it was, 'Okay, cool, a year and a half, your contract is up. We can start working towards those ideas in a year and a half,' the next day, he's ours and we had to rush this into production."
EC3 did note that he wasn't fully aware of the impending release of Braun Strowman but there were implications.
"Implications, but not definitive. It was in a rocky period at the time and with everything taking place, it was not beyond the realm of possibility, but it was still shocking."
