Anthony Greene comments on his time around Steve Corino at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
Former WWE Superstar Anthony Greene is set to make his Major League Wrestling debut as part of the 40-Man Battle Riot on April 5. To promote the upcoming debut, Greene appeared on Fightful Overbooked's In The Weeds and spoke with Jeremy Lambert and SP3.
Anthony Greene was known as August Grey during his time in WWE. A staple of WWE 205 Live during the global pandemic, Greene only lasted eight months, first appearing in October 2020 and last in June 2021. During his time at the WWE Performance Center, Greene got to work with Steve Corino.
Greene told Jeremy Lambert and SP3 that Steve Corino mentored him at the Performance Center. He also happened to be one of Greene's favorite wrestlers, so much so that Greene would build Extreme Warfare Revenge wrestling simulator save files around the former ECW Champion.
"I would say, outside of my normal coaches at the Performance Center, I would say Steve Corino was my mentor at the PC. He is legitimately one of my top three favorite pro wrestlers of all time. Shawn Michaels, Chris Candido, Steve Corino. They all offer something different. We can all agree that Shawn Michaels is the greatest of all time. Chris Candido, the way he moved in the ring, he’s very innovative with his bumping and selling. Steve Corino, an undersized wrestler that had the career he did, not only in America, but Japan as well, and became a top guy nearly everywhere he went. ECW World Champion, NWA World Champion, MLW World Champion. A guy that never had a ‘run’ in WWE and is now one of the top coaches at the Performance Center. I think that is quite impressive," he said.
Greene looks to follow in the footsteps of Steve Corino by winning the MLW World Title in MLW Battle Riot.
