Dann Read discusses Will Ospreay's influence on Pro Wrestling EVE
Will Ospreay may be one of the top stars in All Elite Wrestling at present, but when he's back in the UK, he finds himself behind the scenes at Pro Wrestling EVE shows, even taking a beating from the talent, headset and all.
While speaking to Fightful's Corey Brennan in a recent interview, Pro Wrestling EVE owner Dann Read discussed Will Ospreay's influence on EVE, saying that he challenges the talent and his passion knows no limits.
So Will and I have known each other for years anyway. We're both Resgal boys. Resgal was the venue that Will learned to wrestle. That's the place where we ran the shows once we moved to London. We've known each other for a very long time. People, people really misunderstand. Will is.... is as passionate as you think Will is based on what you see he does in the ring. Trust me, his passion is 10 times more. In fact, there's probably no number. Will is on headset directing. Will is producing. Will is involved in the creative process, Will came to me about being more involved in EVE and I'd be an idiot to not accept that. Why wouldn't I want the talent to be able to work with Will? Do you know what I mean? Why wouldn't I want to work with Will? The talent are excited to be working with him, I'm excited and it's a great partnership you know, in terms of working together. To be able to do that because his passion knows no limits. He also just sees it as wrestling. He wants everyone to do better. He encourages people to be able to do things that perhaps they didn't think they could do, to think differently. He challenges them, he challenges everyone I mean that in the most positive and professional way. He believes in them. That's a key element as well, because as much as there are some great wrestlers on the scene and there are some great producers on the scene, but Will Ospreay is one of the best wrestlers in the world. When you've got that person saying these things to you, that's a different level of encouragement and comfortability that it can give you as a person. Because if this person believes in me, why shouldn't I? That's what I mean by talent. That's not me speaking as an individual. That's me speaking as a talent. If this person, if Will has given me time, why shouldn't I make the most of this and believe in myself like he is? He's prepared to do this for me. I can do this. That's so exciting to be able to see the growth of the performance under Will, with Will producing. Also the growth of the development of the actual visuals of the Eve product. If you watch the Eve product, his level when he's directing along with Robin, who's a tremendous asset to the entire wrestling business. The two of them working together, and a shout out to Simon as well, the three of them working together, there's so much going on, and Will was thinking, right, instead of holding this, what about if we're moving from here to here? He sees the show before everyone else. He's visualizing camera from here to here and where this person's going to be. He's making movies whilst other people are making matches and it can't be understated just how important it is to the growth of the scene to be able to work with Will and people like like I say that kind of comes back to what I was saying earlier, saying how so many people just think of like this algorithm if this is what you're doing, this is what works instead of thinking of creatively and how we can be more expressive and try new things, Will tries new things any person that ever makes it did, so by trying new things and standing out and being unique. When you bring someone who understands that and they become part of the team, it's only going to be beneficial forever."
Ospreay is currently in the midst of a rivalry with the Don Callis Family, and is scheduled to take on a member of The Don Callis Family on tonight's AEW Dynamite. You can read the full preview for tonight's AEW Dynamite here.
