Davey Boy Smith Jr. hopes to run it back with Nick Aldis.
On September 30, 2023, Nick Aldis competed in his last singles match before he joined WWE and took on the role of WWE SmackDown General Manager.
Aldis faced Davey Boy Smith Jr. in the bout, picking up the victory.
Speaking to Jeremy Lambert & Joel Pearl on In The Weeds, Davey Boy reflected on facing Aldis.
"Nick is a fantastic athlete, a great wrestler, a real throwback to what I think the old school and traditional heavyweight and professional wrestling is all about. He is certainly a man that carries himself with class and honor. Unfortunately, I was on the short end of the stick last time we met in the squared circle, but maybe again, someday we'll have round three. Round one, I lost the Stu Hart Heavyweight Championship to Nick for Dungeon Wrestling in October 2022. We were setting up for a rematch for the championship, and everything happened with my stomach and he was being hired by WWE. It was going to be his last match again, with me, at Dungeon Wrestling, but this happened with my stomach so it got canceled altogether, which I was bummed about, but what can you do? These things happen. It was something we were building up to for an entire year. The Calgary fans were seeing me come back, and we were rebuilding the territory and a yearlong storyline with me and Nick in hopes of dethroning him. Things happened with my stomach, on the good luck side of things, Nick got hired by WWE so it didn't happen. That was a match I was bummed about. Nick is a great talent and I wish him all the best," said Davey Boy.
