This week's Smackdown saw some short-lived heat be put to bed.
This past weekend, we'd reported on Drew McIntyre's frustration surrounding LA Knight at the WWE Royal Rumble. McIntyre was slated to be eliminated by Damian Priest before Logan Paul's entrance. However, McIntyre was eliminated after. He vocally expressed frustration towards LA Knight "getting his stuff in" as the reason backstage. This was referenced ahead of their Smackdown Elimination Chamber Qualifying match.
LA Knight cut a promo referencing Drew McIntyre being a "crier." Fightful Select is told his PSA about it being okay to cry was heartfelt and serious, but doubled as a way to take a good hearted shot at McIntyre as well. Before his catchphrase, he joked about "getting his stuff in."
We're told the two were fine working together on the February 7 Smackdown, and it was noted that things got a little rough in the ring physically, but both men came out okay and there were no issues following the match. There was no concern that the two would work together well, and most backstage saw it as an opportunity to play off the frustrations that happened behind the scenes. McIntyre was said to have no issues with Knight's promo either, as you could see on TV.
One source said that the frustrations leaking wasn't ideal, but felt both men played off of it perfectly.
