Diamond Sheik Says MJF Didn't Want A Fourth Diamond Ring Because The Third Was Already Perfect

MJF became a four-time Dynamite Diamond Ring winner at AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming when he defeated Ricky Starks.

Starks had previously earned a shot at MJF and the AEW World Title by winning the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament, and earned a shot at the Dynamite Diamond Ring by winning a battle royal.

Though MJF became a four-time Diamond Ring winner, he was technically defending his diamond ring, and because he was already pleased with the design of the third diamond ring, he didn't want a fourth version.

"Let me tell you guys a story," began Diamond Sheik, the man who designed the third Dynamite Diamond Ring, when speaking to Jeremy Lambert & Stephen Jensen on The Spotlight. "I call up one of my good friends, Maxwell Jacob Friedman. I tell him, 'Should we go ahead and design a fourth iteration of the diamond ring?' He tells me, 'Since I am AEW Champion, I don't plan on losing that or the ring at all. You know what, my friend, don't worry about it. When I win it again, for a fifth time,' he was super confident he was going to win it this time. He said, 'When I win it again for a fifth time, we're going to do a five-year anniversary ring and we're going to upgrade the hell out of it.' You can look forward to that. As far as this one goes, Max is super happy with the ring I made because, obviously, if you make something perfect and it ain't broken, you don't fix it. He said it was such an upgrade over the last one and he loves it so much that he doesn't even want to think of another ring right now and he wanted to keep it. If Ricky had won the ring, I don't know if there would have been a request to change it or not, but since Max kept it, he decided he was going to keep that one. He said it's a very good size for doing what he has to do on a weekly basis, so he's happy with it."

Sheik noted that he already has about eight ideas for the potential five-year anniversary ring.
