Well traveled at only 23 years old, Deonna Purrazzo has already been a key cog in the ROH Women of Honor machine. Recently, the promotion signed her to a non-exclusive contract to solidify that further.
After having already appeared on WWE Smackdown, NXT, Impact, House of Hardcore, and several other promotions, Purrazzo perhaps had performed most regularly for Ring of Honor since 2015. After she confirmed a Squared Circle Sirens report of her signing on Twitter, Fightful reached out to Deonna for comment:
“Contract or not, Ring of Honor has always been the place I considered home. Ring of Honor has allowed me the freedom to be the wrestler I’ve always seen myself to be and the creative freedom to execute that vision but inside of the ring and out. I enjoyed working and capitalizing on opportunities for WWE and TNA up until this point but I find solace in the fact that I am at the forefront of a growing and changing division and no longer an accessory to a bigger picture.
Women Of Honor is a place where history is being written each time we step in the ring. Being offered a contract, alongside others, just before the tournament kicks off to crown the FIRST EVER Women of Honor Champion is an incredible feeling. I am excited about the possibilities of what else we, collectively, can achieve and am ready for my first shot at WOH gold!”
Ring of Honor announced their first ever Women of Honor Championship and subsequent tournament in December 2017 at Final Battle. The tournament will kick off in January, but no date for the finals has been announced as of yet.
