Some big news concerning WrestleMania weekend.
April 6th of 2019 was set to be a massive day for the sport of professional wrestling. On top of the tons of wrestling festivities going down in New York and New Jersey during next year's WrestleMania weekend, NXT TakeOver: New York which will be live from the Barclays Center was set to go head-to-head with Ring Of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling's G1 Supercard show that has sold out Madison Square Garden.
NXT TakeOver: New Orleans and Ring Of Honor's Supercard Of Honor XII ran at the same time this past April as well. Over the past few hours, rumors began to pick up regarding WWE possibly moving NXT TakeOver: New York to Friday night instead of having it on Saturday. Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp reached out to WWE for a comment on the matter and the sports-entertainment company responded with the following:
“WWE will be going back to its previous WrestleMania Week schedule with NXT TakeOver on Friday, April 5 and the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday, April 6. We believe this better serves our fans.”
WWE has confirmed that they are indeed moving NXT TakeOver: New York to April 5th and the WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony has been moved back to the Saturday before WrestleMania.
