Robbie E has experienced life in the wrestling ring, working in fitness and on reality TV, but now the decorated former Impact Wrestling star has decided to dip his toes into podcasting.
The New Jersey native has teamed up with Matt Koon to bring audiences the "Why it Ended" podcasts that looks to tell the story of forgotten wrestlers. In a recent interview with Fightful, Robbie spoke out about the show.
"I had a real cool idea that I wanted to do, but I didn't want people to think that because I'm on a podcast my wrestling career is over, because it's not. I'm actively still full-time wrestling. A few months ago I hooked up with Court Bauer, I told him my idea, he said it was great. I went ahead and still did it. I met Matt Koon, and he jumped on board. Now we have 'Why it Ended.' It's interviewing guys that vanished, or people don't know their stories. Whether they had a 2-week run or a four month run," said Robbie.
The first three episodes of the show feature the likes of Glacier, 'Wildcat' Chris Harris, and Muhammad Hassan. For the latter, Fightful's series of interviews was used as source material for the show. The show has already uncovered some information about Robbie's guests that surprised even him.
"I think the best era for the show will be the end of WCW. I think Glacier was the nicest human I've ever met in my entire life. I swore that he went straight to the Power Plant and came to WCW as a wrestler. I didn't know he had ten years experience," Robbie said.
The Hassan interview wasn't the only Fightful connection Robbie has experienced of late, as he's embroiled in a "frienemy" feud with sometimes-Fightful graphic designer Graham Williams and new NXT Superstar EC3. When I revealed to Robbie that he could say whatever he wanted about EC3 without retort (as WWE doesn't often grant wrestling sites talent interviews), he jumped at the opportunity.
"Somehow this guy has butted in on me and EC3's war. Me and EC3 love each other and hate each other and need each other to move things forward. It's weird. (Graham) has butted in on this and of course he's taken EC3's side. He's basically the special enforcer in our feud via social media. Of course EC3 loves everything he says because he's bashing me. So screw him! EC3 thinks I'm the biggest scumbag in the world. I am a scumbag, he's 1000% correct. However, I admit I'm a scumbag, I know I'm a scumbag, I'm famous for being a scumbag. EC3 is as much of a scumbag as me, but he's in denial of it. He doesn't let anyone else know it but me. I'm the only one that knows the real him. Behind closed doors he's the slimiest, sleaziest, he knows what he's doing! He knows I have his number," Robbie E told Fightful.
