Flip Gordon is just two years into his wrestling career, but finds himself in arguably the second biggest wrestling company in America.
A few months ago, Flip was still without a contract, but told Fightful.com in a recent interview that his fortunes changed in quick fashion. Much quicker than he'd anticipated.
"I went to a Ring of Honor tryout camp or seminar. It was two days. They liked what they saw, and they gave me a date to come to Baltimore, Maryland where they have a TV taping. I figured I'd be on a dark match, but I get there and it turned out I was going to be on TV. My opponent was Matt Sydal," said Gordon.
Gordon elaborated on the match, saying that he went all out. He also put over the former NJPW, ROH, WWE and current Global Force name in Matt Sydal for helping him land a gig. The tryout wasn't without a few hiccups, however.
"I gave everything I had because I knew I was fighting for a job. After that they reached out to me and gave me a contract. I got a bunch of good feedback, Matt Sydal was happy with the match. He put me over, definitely helped me get my job with Ring of Honor. The only feedback I got that was bad is that I have to remember there are cameras out there, and it's a TV show now, not just a wrestling match," Gordon said.
