In a recent interview with Fightful's Corey Brennan, Jay discussed entering the OTT Loco Rumble at number one, and after initially joking about regretting the decision, Jay explained his reasoning for declaring at one.

"For me, it's a test for myself. I want to go 1-30. I want to win the Rumble. I want to spend the most time in there. I don't want to say I'm an adrenaline junkie, but there's just something about hearing that crowd roar. I want to be out there for as long as possible. I want to do as much as possible. I want to grab everybody by the scruff, torf them over the top and hear the crowd scream. I want it to be like the colosseum. I want 30 gladiators going out ready to die. At the very end, the best man stands tall. So if it's me going one to 30, it's me going one to 30. If it's not, then I hope I don't leave the ring."
