Kevin Blackwood: Daniel Garcia Always Had A Good Mindset

Kevin Blackwood praises Daniel Garcia.

Before Daniel Garcia turned into a huge singles star for AEW, he was involved in a tag team with Kevin Blackwood on the independent scene. Together, the duo had matches in promotions like BEYOND Wrestling, Smash Wrestling, Limitless Wrestling, and C4 Wrestling.

In September 2020, the duo even teamed together for a pair of dark matches for AEW. Those matches seemingly kickstarted Garcia's career with the company, as he was brought back as a singles competitor the following year.

In a new interview with Fightful Overbooked, Blackwood talked about connecting with Garcia and meeting him for the first time.

"When we would do drills, he came into it and the last thing he did was hockey. He had this crazy cardio and he didn’t understand at the time that you have to match your pace to the person you’re working with. He’d be running the ropes like Macho Man in the 80s. Dudes could not keep up with him. I was like, ‘This kid is insane. Dan, slow down.’ We were driving back from a local show and it just so happened that he gave me ride. That was the first time we connected and talked. He always had a good mindset and he always wanted to be a good wrestler. He was always cool and respectful. Everybody has always liked Dan. All of that went a long way for him."

Blackwood will get the chance to face Shelton Benjamin during WrestleMania weekend, as he'll take on the AEW star at Pandemonium Pro Wrestling's The House Always Wins event on April 17. Stay up-to-date with the promotion by clicking here.
