Kody Lane had a tough start in wrestling.
Since starting his career over ten years ago, Kody Lane has remained as a force in independent wrestling, competing in promotions like Glory Pro and Alpha-1 on a consistent basis.
As it turns out, Lane had a bit of a rough start to his wrestling career, as he learned the basics on a baseball field.
"February 21st will be ten years. I wrestled a guy named Quinton Lynch in an old auto body shop. That’s where I started training. I trained in pretty much a tin building, an old auto body spot. The day we moved in, we had cut all the metal shit in the concrete. We had to do a lot of manual labor just to get into the spot. My two months of training were actually not in a ring, they were in a baseball field, at a park. We either lost the building or got evicted in that first building. The first day was taking down the ring because we got kicked out. Then, I learned how to do a headlock takeover on the diamond plate in a baseball field. No ring. We learned how to run the ropes with no ring. We’d whip each other off, take three steps, and turn. We didn’t bump. We didn’t front rolls and quarter rolls, but that was it. Those trainers were a little older so they had to do a lot of improving when they lost the building." Lane said while speaking to Fightful Overbooked for a new interview.
Elsewhere in the interview, Lane recalled facing Ricky Starks in his return match back in November 2024. Check out his full comments on the matter by clicking here.
