Mike Bailey recalls TNA's Hard To Kill event.
At TNA Hard To Kill, Mike Bailey and Trent Seven were set to team up to face The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz), ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey), and the Grizzled Young Veterans (Zach Gibson & James Drake) in a four way tag team bout for the TNA World Tag Team Championships.
Trent Seven was unable to make the event due to travel issues, prompting Laredo Kid to team with Bailey instead.
While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, Bailey said that it was a great weekend for wrestling before noting that he didn't find out about Seven's absence until he got to the arena.
"So, you said a lot of things in that question that I must address. It was a great weekend for professional wrestling altogether. It was fantastic for me and Veda. Veda doing commentary on a sold out Battle of the Valley, and me a sold out Hard to Kill. Hard to Kill is when I debuted for IMPACT two years ago. In a match with Ace Austin, Chris Bey and Laredo Kid. So to have them be in that match as well for my TNA debut was very, very cool. I found out about Trent, which was very unfortunate—I was very excited about Speedball Mountain as a concept and the imagery, and I think Trent is incredibly intelligent about pro wrestling. Like way beyond what people understand. So I love Trent. I was very excited to be with him. But getting to team with Laredo Kid was, again, brought it back full circle a little bit more. I didn’t find out until I got to the venue. But that’s pro wrestling, isn’t it?"
Bailey went on to chat about Seven signing with TNA and how he signed his contract in the Don Kolov Arena in Canada.
"Yes. Which is also where Josh Alexander signed his IMPACT contract originally, also in the Don Kolov Arena on Scott D’Amore’s back. So, again, those little things, the significance of the Don Kolov Arena within IMPACT and TNA. It just makes it feel special. I just love being able to say, and I love talking about it in the lead up to our hour long match, Josh and I, that I literally signed my contract off of his back. That’s just a little part of the history there that I’m sure is going to keep going for many, many years. Again, even though he and I haven’t shared a ring in IMPACT or TNA since that match, he and I were the two that were chosen to go up against Will Ospreay. We both came up short in those first matches, but there was another one that just happened that was absolutely fantastic, but you’ll have to wait until it pops out on TV to know the result or just Google it. I’m sure you guys posted the results. But back to me and Josh, the fact that we were the two selected to go up against the best wrestler in the world, Will Ospreay, really means a lot in the continuation of our story. I think Josh and I have so much more and I think that’s the beauty of pro wrestling, you have all of those stories that move along concurrently and now the question is— who is the next person to sign their TNA contract on the back of Scott D'Amore in the Don Kolov Arena?"
Bailey went on to note that he didn't know about Seven's surprise debut at Final Resolution.
"I was not. Complete surprise, full surprise. I felt bad for Jake Something and Jason Hotch, who went out right after, had a fantastic match but the audience was just a little burnt out from that moment."
