Shawn Spears recalls facing Chris Danger in his debut match.

At Deadlock Pro's 'World's Strongest' event in November 2023, Chris Danger made his pro wrestling debut, as he wrestled Shawn Spears in a singles match. Many fans were impressed with Danger's skills, crediting him for standing toe-to-toe with Spears in a fifteen minute match.

While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, Spears praised the atmosphere in Deadlock Pro before also crediting Danger for putting in the work.

"Yeah, and you’re right about Deadlock. Great guys to work with. Very easy guys to work with. One of those unique, close knit atmospheres where it feels like they’re right on top of you and they’re all vibing the same. As a performer, it’s one of your perfect storm kind of audiences. But I beat the shit out of Chris. That was a bit of the conversation. I was like, ‘Look, this is how this is kind of gonna have to go, ‘cause this is your first match and it’s against someone who’s had thousands,’ I think. In some way shape or form, it’s probably up there. But, to his credit, he had been putting in the work. He came down and trained with us for a little while. Then even on his own, he would go find other locations to continue the training and get more ideas and he was working out. He was getting gear made. He was doing everything that a brand new professional wrestler in this industry should be doing. He was asking the right questions. He was just doing everything right. He was obviously promoting himself very well through his YouTube and everything like that. So when Adam did get hurt, the question of, ‘Hey, would you be interested in doing this?’ It’s like, ‘Absolutely.’ Adam Cole, those are big shoes to fill, but I got my own pair that I don’t mind throwing up there alongside his. What a perfect storm of an evening it was. I’m assuming you watched the match? Your thoughts are your thoughts on what it was, but I thought for what we presented that night and for the circumstances that arose during that match too, I thought he had a hell of a showing. I hope he’s as proud of it as I am of him because he was challenged in pretty much every way someone could be challenged in that match and he pulled through with flying colors."

Danger had his second match on February 18, as he teamed with Tyler Breeze in a match against The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake).

Elsewhere in the interview, Spears said that he will finish his career in WWE. Fans can learn more here.
