Swerve Strickland Talks 'Big Pressure', Credits Prince Nana For Adding A Visual Element To The Song

Swerve Strickland discusses his 'Big Pressure' theme song.

Many fans will argue that 'Big Pressure' is one of the best themes in AEW, if not all of wrestling. The theme song, and Strickland himself, has gained a ton of new fans in recent months, especially with the rise of Prince Nana and his viral dance moves.

While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, Strickland talked about how he's tinkered with the song on a few occasions to allow it to be more accessible for fans.

"Yeah, it takes a while for a song to really catch and then kind of break. So it took, like, a year in a sense of like playing it over and over again, getting people attached to it. But, okay, my character was going in a different direction. So honestly, I had to shift into changing it up, like changing the guitars, the BPMs, slowing it down, getting the tempo and all these things changing. Then it got a little slower, so now a lot more people could go along to the beat a little more, then Nana coming in and adding the dance took it to a viral level of having a visual. Honestly, music having a visual to it takes it to [a new level]. Like Michael Jackson and his music videos, he’s adding a visual to it, takes the record way even higher. So that’s what happened with Big Pressure, I would say."

After talking about how is the opposite of 'Hangman' Adam Page, Strickland noted that being the opposite of Prince Nana helps them be compatible.

"Going back to me and Nana, using the opposites to make us compatible in a sense. I was saying with the dancers and all that, I was like, ‘You know what would be great to have for Nana since this is taking off? A dance quartet with more women. Add women to it.’ ‘Okay.’ Sure enough, we throw that on there and next thing you know, now the women are in the intro of the show."

Elsewhere in the interview, Strickland talked about possibly having a match with Will Ospreay in AEW. Fans can learn more here.
