Victor Benjamin talks Butterfinger.
When you're an athlete, brand collaborations and/or sponsorships are always big opportunities to bring fans to each person in the partnership. Although this is rare in the world of pro wrestling, stars such as Brock Lesnar have advertised brands on their gear in the past.
Independent star Victor Benjamin has carved out a special role in the world of wrestling, as he boasts a partnership with Nestle's Butterfinger. In a new interview with Fightful, Benjamin talked about the partnership in detail.
"Huge. It was a rib at first. I put up one post on Instagram—you know, photographers, they take the most unflattering photos sometimes. So I’m in a corner, I got like one eye rolled up behind my head; my tongue’s half out of my mouth. I look like a dying cat. It just so happened to be Halloween, so I posted about 50% off Halloween candy. Butterfinger somehow got traction on it, followed me on Instagram. I asked them to follow me on Twitter. They did and then we just kept going from there. Then they started making graphics of me breaking through Butterfinger bars. Then I made a t-shirt as me as a Simpsons character. Then this arrived last year at WrestleMania weekend. It was sent by a very, very cryptic DM. It said, ‘Your crispety, crunchety surprise has arrived.’ At this point, I had two months of zero correspondence. So I have no idea what’s coming. But I’m like, ‘I need to get home right now,’ and we’re in Tampa. So I get home, this beaut right here is wrapped up, packaged with a handwritten letter."
Benjamin went on to reveal that the handwritten note didn't have any Bart Simpson references.
"I hope it was. But what was it, ‘I will not talk in class.’ It didn’t say that. Bart. I got you, bud, and there was a dozen Butterfingers in there, too. So I could celebrate. It was fantastic."
Benjamin then went on to SHOOT SOFTLY on peanut butter brands.
Peter Pan Brand:
“I haven’t had it in years. So I can’t even really speak on it. But I’m gonna go a one. I’m gonna give it a one [out of] ten, we’re gonna do ten scale.
Jiff:
“I hate Jiff. I want to fight whoever makes Jif. I had a guy once try to shove Jif down my throat in the middle of a match. Jif of all things and it was crunchy.”
Skippy:
“Okay, I can get down with Skippy. They have peanut butter with protein now. So ten grams of protein? I’ll take that.”
