Yoya has gained notoriety over the past year, becoming a regular in Game Changer Wrestling and competing for various other independent companies. Yoya got his start in wrestling in 2019 thanks to the encouragement of Janai Kai.
Most wrestlers grew up wrestling fans and had their favorite performers growing up. Yoya is not exception, although his favorite wrestlers may surprise fans.
"My number two is Jimmy Wang Yang. He would be my number one, but every time I see him in person, he shit talks me. I don't know guy, you're number two. My number one is Mark Jindrak. Mark Jindrak is sick. Everyone is like, 'that's cap.' It's not. He's incredible. He's awesome," Yoya told Jeremy Lambert of Fightful.
Yoya said that when he gets his own promotion, he'll make Mark Jindrak the champion.
When asked why Jimmy Wang Yang shit talks him, Yoya replied, "It just happened out of nowhere. He was so nice when I first met him. The more I started talking to him, the more he started talking shit. I was like, 'this guy sucks.' Not at wrestling. He's really good at wrestling, but he sucks. I will say, if he's ever listening to this, I do want to tag team with him at one point before he's done wrestling. Maybe we can put the beef aside for a couple of minutes."
Yoya was unsure if the two could coexist, but was willing to give it a try.
Jimmy Wang Yang hasn't wrestled since November 2022 where he teamed with his daughter Jazzy Yang at New South Rasslevania.
