Ziggy Haim reflects on facing Bill Alfonso.
Ziggy Haim grew up a fan of ECW and was admittedly captivated by the likes of Mick Foley (Cactus Jack) and his ability to cut a promo and tell a story. She also enjoyed the more hardcore aspects of the promotion, which differed from what many fans saw out of WWE and WCW at the time.
Bill Alfonso was arguably the most famous manager in ECW history, helping guide the likes of Rob Van Dam and Sabu to championship glory.
Speaking to Jeremy Lambert & Joel Pearl on In The Weeds, Ziggy reflected on her bout against Alfonso in AEW on December 18, 2021.
"That was crazy. Really wild as someone who loved ECW and just being able to have a little manager storyline with him for a while where we kept getting in each other's way was so cool just to work with him. Fonzie is the man.
It was just really fun. We both got to have fun with it. I got a lot better and putting things together as a wrestler and a worker, not so much a pro wrestler. I got to put a storyline together that didn't have to do with my in-ring work that led up to a match that was between two people that didn't really wrestle on these cards that often. It was learning to put together a spectacle. It was really fun, I liked doing it," she said.
Haim competed in the 2023 Bill Alfonso Hardcore Tournament, but lost int he first round to Dominic Garrini.
